“The Wall Along Syrian Border to Be Completed Soon”

hhhhTurkey has finished the first phase of a 36.5 kilometer wall along its border with Syria, to stop the influx of more war refugees.

It said the first phase of the barrier, on the Syrian-Turkish border city of Hatay, had been completed.

Each barrier block is three meters high and two meters wide, the network said, and weighs seven tons. Each has been stamped with the Turkish government’s logo. The wall project is to be completed in the next few days, putting a stop to smugglers and migrants en route to Europe.

Turkey has captured more than 500 refugees for trying to cross the border illegally in several provinces around the country over the past three days.

Some two million war refugees, mainly from Syria, have fled to Turkey, where most are housed in camps.
