Turkish Army Has Shelled Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG)

fffTurkish army has shelled Mengh Airport and Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) targets near the city of Azaz in northwest Syria.

Tarek Abu Zeid, the spokesperson of Army of Revolutionaries, Jaysh al-Thuwar in Arabic, said “Bombardment started at about 6 pm on our positions in the village of Mengh, on our military airbase.”

“The Turkish shelling of Kurdish positions has continued for more than two hours almost uninterruptedly,” Abu Zeid said, adding that the Turkish forces were using mortars and missiles and firing from the Turkish border.

The Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and their allies including Army of Revolutionaries, a coalition force allied with the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG), have been combating the Islamic State (IS) under the umbrella of SDF.

On Wednesday, the SDF liberated Mengh Airport from al-Nusra Front, an affiliate of al-Qaeda.
