U.S. Stocks Closed Early on Monday

Due to the Independence Day holiday, U.S. stocks will close 3 hours earlier on Monday (3rd) at 01:00 on the 4th Taipei time, and the market will be closed on Tuesday. U.S. financial markets, including those operated by the New York Stock Exchange and Nasdaq, were closed on Tuesday.

The U.S. stock market ended the first half of the year last Friday, with the S&P 500 up 1.23% to close at 4450.38 points, a new high since April 20, 2022. The Nadaq Composite gained 1.45%, consolidating its biggest first-half gain since 1983. The Dow rose 0.84% to close at 34,407.60, its highest close since June 15.

In the first half of this year, the technology-heavy Nasdaq Composite Index rose 31.7%, the largest first-half gain since 1983. The S&P 500 rose about 15.9% in the first half, its best first-half performance since 2019. The Dow rose just 3.8% in the first half of the year.

Independence Day is a holiday established by the United States to commemorate the ratification of the Declaration of Independence, one of the most important founding documents of the United States, on July 4, 1776, by the Continental Congress.
