What does Lidl’s New Online Sales Site Offer

Skipping rope, barbecue, high-pressure cleaner… Lidl launched its online sales website on Sunday May 21, 2023. This is reserved for non-food products and should contain exclusives, reports Capital, Tuesday May 23, 2023 .
The site was originally supposed to go live on June 1, 2023, but the company decided to launch its new project a little earlier than planned. And this early launch seems to be paying off. “ Without communication, we are already at almost 2,000 orders per day ”, explained Michel Biero, executive director of purchasing and marketing at Lidl France.
Always unbeatable prices
To launch its e-commerce site in France, Lidl was inspired by what the company had already done in foreign countries, such as Spain, Belgium and Germany. It also used its previous experiences of Lidl Voyage and Lidl Vin, which already allowed French customers to place orders online.
The company wants to apply the same pricing policy to the site as in its physical stores. A measure that it is able to achieve in particular thanks to its brands. Almost all of the products available on the website come from the Silvercrest, Playtive and Grill Meister brands. For example, it is possible to find a wooden dollhouse for €44.99 or a kayak for less than €100. “ The site will not be a marketplace ”, specified Michel Biero in particular.
Products exclusively online
If 70% of the articles must be continuously available on the site, others will change with the seasons. Still according to Michel Biero, 3,000 products should be added within six months. The range should also be expanded with collections and objects offered only on the Internet, such as trampolines, jacuzzis or even bedding.
In order not to miss any promotion, users of the site will be able to receive a notification via the application, a newsletter or even read the pages reserved for the online offer in the catalog. A loyalty program, Lidl +, could also see the light of day in order to obtain reductions on products at already unbeatable prices.
