At the end of the new year, some WhatsApp users will no longer be able to use the famous messaging app. From January 1, 2021, in fact, it will no longer be possible to send messages from the platform on some “dated” smartphones. Let’s see which mobile phones will no longer be compatible with WhatsApp from 2021.

The news concerns iPhone and Android. Specifically, from 2021 devices equipped with Android versions prior to 4.0.3 and all iPhones with versions prior to iOS 9 will no longer be able to support WhatsApp. From January 1st, therefore, those who own a mobile phone with previous versions to iOS 9 or Android 4.0.3 they will have to update the software if possible or switch phones.

How to check the version currently running on my Android phone
To check the version of Android with which your mobile phone is equipped, simply open the device Settings, select the System item, and click on About and Check the version of Android in use. Among the Android smartphones that will no longer be able to use WhatsApp from January 1st 2021 we find the Galaxy S2, the Motorola Droid RAZR and Huawei Ascend P1.

How to check the version currently running on my iPhone phone
For those who have an iPhone instead, to check the iOS version in use, simply enter Settings, select the General item and then select Info and view the version of the operating system installed. Among the Apple smartphones that will no longer be able to use WhatsApp from January 1st 2021, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPhone 5C and iPhone 5S.
