Bayer has won an important court case in the USA – the seventh in a row. A new strategy and new witnesses contribute to this. Will the glyphosate burden break away from the company?

Dusseldorf, New York One of the top issues on the agenda for Bayer boss Bill Anderson, who has been in office since the beginning of June, is the billion-euro legal burden from the glyphosate lawsuits in the USA. The group got involved with the takeover of the US seed manufacturer Monsanto. For a long time, Bayer was on the defensive in the processes. But now the tide is turning – the group’s legal position is improving significantly.

Bayer has obtained an acquittal from the lay jury seven times in a row since 2020. This contrasts with the first three lost lawsuits from the early days of the glyphosate lawsuits until mid-2019.

The analysis shows that Bayer has changed the process strategy and only goes to court in selected cases and at selected locations. These are mainly lawsuits with good chances of winning.
