28 Yaşında Partinin Genel Başkanı Oldu
İsveç Hıristiyan Demokratlar Partisi’nin liderliğine, 28 yaşındaki Ebba Busch Thor seçildi. Ebba Busch Thor, parlamentodaki en genç parti başkanı ve partisinin de ilk kadın lideri oldu.
Muhalefetteki Hristiyan Demokrat Parti’nin 2004 yılından bu yana parti başkanlığını yapan Göran Hägglund’un istifa etmesinden ardından, bugün yapılan parti kongresinde yeni lideri belirlendi.
Seçime tek aday olarak giren Ebba Busch Thor, seçilmesinin ardından yaptığı konuşmada “Önümüzdeki zamanlar, en güzel zamanlarımız olacak.” dedi. Thor seçim öncesi de ”Partinin geleneksel muhafazakar değerlerini savunmaya ve ailelerin hakları için mücadele etmeye devam edeceğim.” demişti.
Uppsala Üniversitesi Sosyal Bilimler Fakültesi’nde ‘barış ve çatışma çalışmaları alanında’ eğitim gören Thor, 2006 yılında Hristiyan Demokrat Parti’ye üye olmuştu.
Hıristiyan Demokatlar’da 2004 yılından beri liderlik koltuğunda oturan 55 yaşındaki Göran Hägglund geçtiğimiz Eylül ayında gerçekleştirilen genel seçimlerdeki başarısızlık sebebiyle istifa etmişti.
Hristiyan Demokrat Parti’nin 349 sandalyeli İsveç Parlamentosu’nda (Riksdag) 16 milletvekili, Avrupa Parlamentosu’nda ise 1 milletvekili bulunuyor. 1964 yılında kurulan Hristiyan Demokrat Parti ilk kez 1985 yılında barajı aşmış ve parlamentoya girebilmişti.
