Mexico Announces New Tesla Factory in Monterrey

The American company Tesla, owned by tycoon Elon Musk, will build a factory in the city of Monterrey (north), announced the president of Mexico, Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, this Tuesday, 28.
The country’s president, Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, said the deal was closed after a telephone conversation with Musk last Monday.
The Chief Executive said that the agreement was closed after a telephone conversation with Musk last Monday, in which the CEO of the company committed to taking into account the problems of water scarcity in the state of Nuevo Leon.
“This will mean a considerable investment and many jobs,” said Obrador, adding that the values will be announced on Wednesday.
Musk “was very respectful and considerate and understood the importance of tackling the problem of water scarcity (…) with the use of reused water, water treatment even for painting cars”, he commented.
Obrador revealed that he had already spoken with Musk last Friday, when he publicly suggested the possibility of the factory being installed in another region of the country with greater availability of the resource.
For now, “the question of batteries is pending”, but “I am satisfied with what has been achieved”, said Obrador, announcing that the car factory “is going to be very big”.
