Elon Musk’s Tweet Causes Mass Abandonment of Twitter

The richest man in the world and the new owner of the social network tweeted and managed to cause a particularly big storm on the platform. In addition, if since yesterday you are unable to see outside the application – it is not a bug.
What is Elon Musk doing to Twitter? The new owner of the social network tweeted this evening (Saturday) about a series of restrictions on the platform – causing an uproar and mass abandonment. According to him, from now on, unverified accounts in the Twitter Blue program (that do not pay for a monthly subscription), will be limited to reading only 800 posts per day, compared to verified accounts – and will be able to read 8,000 posts per post per day. At the same time, the social network began yesterday (Friday) to require users to connect to the service in order to view public tweets, or user profiles.
According to Musk, the reason for the move is “to deal with large volumes of information mining/”scraping” and system malfunctions”. In addition, Musk noted that new accounts that have not been verified will be able to read up to 300 posts per day. In response to Musk‘s statement, users of the platform reacted with great anger and announced immediate abandonment. Others asked him to clarify what the definition of “reading” is (for example, scrolling through the feed and skipping the posts as you go).
What is the reason? Or Twitter is in a general server crash and Musk’s tweet is meant to cover it up. On the other hand, some claim that it is a scam (again), while there are those who refer to the decision as the last nail in the coffin of the social network due to numerous technical glitches, and even to speak of Musk’s direction from his first day as owner – to kill the blue bird once and for all.
It is also important to mention that since acquiring the company in October 2022, Musk has fired about half of the social network’s workforce, including most of the teams that will maintain the core of the system and keep the social network alive.
