A Hydrogen Plant will be Installed on the Former Ford Site in Blanquefort Near Bordeaux
The announcement is made this Thursday morning by Bordeaux Metropole. Hydrogen de France will set up a hydrogen fuel cell plant on the grounds of the former Ford plant in Blanquefort.
Around a hundred jobs should be created as soon as the new plant opens in 2023. Bordeaux Métropole announces this Thursday the installation of hydrogen from France at the Ford site in Blanquefort. A call for expressions of interest was launched a year ago. It is therefore a hydrogen fuel cell manufacturing plant that will be born. It will occupy three of the thirteen hectares of circuit land returned by Ford to the metropolis.
The project was threefold, explains Bordeaux Metropole in a press release: “very quickly initiate a new dynamic in the industrial zone of Blanquefort in response to the closure of the Ford site and the elimination of 849 jobs; let local economic actors know or not the potential the field of circuits, in a context of scarcity of land to allow the Metropolis to better project the possibilities of development; detect and bring out business projects with a positive impact for the territory with the objective of net creation of jobs “.
The project will now be the subject of technical work between the various partners before the operational launch. “Hydrogen is a new energy vector in full development and with strong potential for innovation, specifies Bordeaux Metropole, a low-carbon industrial sector, a vector with enormous potential for the transformation of energy production and transport systems” .
