Booking.com Guest House is still Awaiting Payment for August Bookings

The company still has to pay more than 9,000 euros to Maison Vintage, a guest house located in the center of Carcassonne, in Aude.

The Booking.com site, well known to French travelers, is in the sights of a guest house in the medieval city of Carcassonne. This house, Maison Vintage, offers five rooms for rent on rue Crozals, in the center of town. Problem: she is still waiting for the reservation website to pay her the sum of 9,370 euros, which corresponds to the reservations made … in August 2021, reports La Dépêche du Midi, in early November. This sum corresponds roughly to 80% of Maison Vintage’s turnover for this summer month.

The guest house having opted for the monthly payment of its payments by the site, this tidy sum should have been paid to it on September 15. But she still hasn’t received anything. “It is the contract, the month of August was to be paid to us in September. The 15th, like every month”, specifies the owner of the places in the regional daily. The man repeatedly tried to reach the company, making several phone calls per week, only to hear himself say each time: “Sorry, this will work out.”

A situation that annoys the establishment, because the money is still blocked. La Dépêche even reports the transcription of a call made by the boss, in front of his journalists, to the Dutch platform of Booking.com. “We are sorry, sir. A request has been sent to the financial department. There may be a problem in the system. Normally, it should not be long,” explains the interlocutor. Insufficient for the owner of Maison Vintage, who deplores being answered exactly the same each time he tries to join the company.

Booking’s response
With the daily, the boss of the guest house indicates that he has counted “20 calls since September”, and that the speech of his interlocutors at Booking.com always remains the same. “Once there was even an operator who made me understand that I was boring him,” he laments. And the man is having a hard time understanding what is blocking it, especially since the amount corresponding to the reservations for the month of September has been paid to him, even ten days in advance. Still, he accuses “a hell of a hole in the treasury”. Faced with a situation that he now considers “grotesque”, he is preparing to send a registered letter to the company.

Finally, Booking.com seems to have decided to look further into the matter. With L’Indépendant, the company let it be known, Tuesday evening, November 2, that it had indeed registered Maison Vintage’s request. “Our aim is to find a solution as quickly as possible.”
