US President Donald Trump announced on the night of Thursday to Friday that he had tested positive for Covid-19, just like his wife Melania, and that he was going into quarantine.
“Tonight, the First Lady and I tested positive for Covid-19,” tweeted the president . “We will begin our quarantine and the recovery process immediately. We will do it TOGETHER!” He added.
The White House doctor has already confirmed that the president “is doing well and will continue to perform his duties.” Donald Trump was due to go to Florida for his campaign for the presidential election on November 3 but the trip is canceled, he will remain in the White House during his convalescence.
Earlier, US President Donald Trump announced he was going into “quarantine” pending his Covid-19 results after a positive test from a close associate.
“The First Lady and I are awaiting the results of our test,” tweeted the US president.
“Meanwhile, we are starting our quarantine process!” Added the president, without specifying what exactly it was.
According to his official schedule, the tenant of the White House is due to leave Washington by mid-afternoon on Friday to participate in a campaign rally in Florida that evening.
A few minutes before his tweet, Donald Trump had confirmed on Fox News that Hope Hicks, his close advisor, had tested positive. “I just had a test, we’ll see. Who knows?” He said, referring to the results “this (evening” (Thursday) “tomorrow morning” (Friday).
Hope Hicks was aboard Air Force One with the President when he traveled to Cleveland, Ohio on Tuesday to participate in the debate against Joe Biden.
Aso traveled with him on Wednesday when he visited Minnesota for a campaign rally.
“She works hard,” he said. “She often wears a mask but has tested positive,” he added, adding that he spent “a lot of time with Hope, as did the First Lady.”
