ll batteries wear out after a certain number of recharges. For the iPhone, Apple sets the threshold to 500. So here’s how to find out how many charge cycles your iPhone’s battery has already completed.

To get started, go to Settings Battery Status to view your iPhone’s battery information. But in this menu there is a number that you won’t find: the number of times your iPhone has been charged.

However, this figure is rather important, because the batteries have a limited number of charge cycles before being considered as used. This is true for all batteries, not just your iPhone’s.

Apple has posted some information on charge cycles and their effects on the battery. “Your battery is designed to retain up to 80% of its original capacity after 500 full charge cycles” .

In the end, what should be remembered is that your battery can withstand 500 charge cycles before being less than 80%, and considered worn.

Note that a “charge cycle” is the number of times the battery has been fully discharged, not the number of times it has gone from 100% to 0%. So if you start the day with a full battery, recharge it while it is at 50%, and then recharge it again while it displays 50%, that represents a cycle. There can be multiple charge cycles in a day, but a single charge cycle can also span multiple days.

But how do you know how many charge cycles your iPhone battery has already completed? Apple does not present this information.

To find out, I used to use an app, coconutBattery, to extract this information from my iPhone. However, I recently discovered (via Reddit) a way to get this information without needing to go through an app.
