How to Stay Awake at Work

Whether you are attending an all-night party, staying up late to meet your newborn baby, or working late to catch a project, it is working time, but you can’t stay awake. You promised yourself over and over again, as long as you can survive today and don’t get caught by your boss, I will take a good rest. Come and see, here are some ways to help you stay awake during working hours:

1
Listen to music. Let yourself be awake by listening to music. Music can activate the emotional reflection of the human body. Allows us to interact with most areas of the brain.

Listen to music that gives you energy. If conditions permit, you can listen and jump. Even if you just shake your head and hum, the excitement and vibration of the music will make you sober. This music is better than listening to those you are very familiar with. To avoid disturbing colleagues, remember to bring a headset.
Listen quietly. Everyone mistakenly believes that deafening music must function better, but in fact it is the opposite. Because the sound is small, you will listen carefully to the instruments, lyrics and percussion in the music. If the volume level happens to be when you can’t hear the lyrics, that’s just right. Because it shows that your brain is working.
2
Expose yourself to bright light. The best is natural daylight. The body’s biological clock (day and night) is determined by whether you are exposed to sunlight. This means that you can coax your body to make it realize that it is daytime, even if you are tired, you must stay awake.
Take a walk outside. If allowed, you can go outside, even if the time is short, it is very useful if the weather is cloudy. Or looking out from the window for a while will make you sober.
Provide artificial light. Even if you work in an environment with artificial light, it would be better if it was brighter. You can adjust the direction of the artificial light support or add a light bulb to make your work area brighter.
3
Chew ice cubes. If you chew ice cubes, you are almost impossible to fall asleep. The cold temperature makes your brain extremely excited, even if you are driving late at night, exhausted, and just want to sleep, ice can also work.
Chew anything. Even putting your pen in your mouth will work. Because your body senses that you are about to start eating, it releases insulin to prepare for eating. And insulin makes the body more awake.

4
Wash your face with cold water. If the weather is slightly cooler, you can take off your sweater or coat to cool your body. You can also open the window or turn on the fan to let the wind face your face.
Your body’s response to the cold is to get yourself running and keep your body warm. Your body needs to regulate body temperature to ensure that all organs in the body function normally. Therefore, when it is stimulated by ice cubes or something colder, it will start to work to keep itself awake longer.
5
Apply your sense of smell. Whether it is a good smell or an unpleasant pungent smell, you can be more alert immediately. Aroma physiotherapists often recommend the essential oils of the following plants to stimulate the nervous system to relieve fatigue. When you are drowsy, open the cap and take a deep breath of the essential oils of the plants below:
Rosemary.
Blue eucalyptus tree.
mint.
coffee. Beans or brewed coffee will work. Studies have shown that simply smelling coffee can make people sober.
Of course, not everyone has essential oils in their office filing cabinets. You can also use the smell of hand cream or burning candles, the same smell can have an effect. Fresh or dried herbs such as rosemary and mint can be bought in grocery stores. Take a little and rub it with your fingertips and smell it lightly to refresh your body.
6
healthy diet. As long as you are not too full, eating will help you stay awake. As we all know, overeating can make people drowsy. So don’t eat too much during lunch.

A snack from time to time is better than a lasting meal. But remember to eat snacks with high sugar content as little as possible. You know the consequences. The same is true for foods containing caffeine, so reduce the intake of coffee, soda and functional beverages.
Eat less foods high in carbohydrates for breakfast, such as muffins, bread, pastries, bagels, etc. Otherwise, your body’s blood sugar level is likely to reach its peak at 11 o’clock in the morning, making you weak.

Put a small handful of sunflower seeds in your mouth and use your tongue and teeth to spread one at a time. This can invigorate your mind and the movement of your tongue can make you sober. In addition, the salty aroma of sunflower seeds can stimulate your nerves. When you finish eating, spit out the empty melon seeds into an empty paper cup as soon as possible to avoid affecting the normal work of colleagues around you.

Get active and wake yourself up.

1
Stretch your body. Stretching and twisting the body can speed up blood circulation, which can make you awake. Rotating the head or neck for 20 seconds can have the same effect.
2
Massage method. Massage the following body parts to promote blood circulation and relieve fatigue:
Overhead. Use fingertips to gently press the top of the head or massage with a scalp massager.
The back of the neck.
Back of the hand. Especially the area where the thumb and index finger meet.
The lower part of the knee.
earlobe.
3
Exercise in the office. Just because you sit in a chair doesn’t mean you can’t exercise. Moving around in front of the computer, or standing up and moving around after a while can keep you awake.

Do simple exercises, such as jumping, push-ups, sit-ups, squats, etc. But don’t exercise vigorously like in the gym. As long as it can speed up blood circulation and wake you up. Otherwise your weird behavior is likely to attract the attention of colleagues.

Stand as much as possible. Sit in the office, stand up and move around every 20 to 30 minutes. If you are looking for a reason to stand as much as possible, remember this: Research shows that sitting for less than three hours a day can increase your lifespan by two years.

If you have to sit down and work, find yourself the most uncomfortable chair, but it won’t make you painful. Make sure the back of the chair is straight. This will force you to straighten your waist. Also, don’t put your head on the table, hands or leaning against the wall.
4
Take a short walk. Some people cheer themselves up by taking a short walk. Especially if you have been working in front of the computer for a day, this is a great way to relax.

Research shows that taking a short break while working can make your work more efficient. If you are worried about not meeting the final deadline, take a break. Taking a break can help you complete the task. You don’t have to worry about your boss at this point.
section.

1
take a nap. If you have time, you can sleep for 15 to 20 minutes, which can quickly restore your awake state. You can drink a cup of coffee or other caffeinated beverages before going to bed, because it takes about 20 minutes for caffeine to take effect. So you will not fall asleep, on the contrary, it can make you more concentrated after sleep.

Everyone knows that the right brain is responsible for processing and storing information, so sleeping for 20 minutes will help activate the right brain and improve work efficiency.
2
Follow a good schedule and eating habits. The brain benefits greatly from a fixed schedule. If you go to bed and wake up at the same time every day (including weekends), your brain will know when you are awake and set you into awake mode. Taking in the right nutrients can also help you get through every day full of energy, without taking a nap to add extra energy.

How long does it take to sleep to ensure you are well rested? Adults need 7 to 9 hours of sleep every night. If you are pregnant or older, you may need more sleep, about 10 to 11 hours.
Some people suggest that only half of the curtains should be closed when sleeping. In this way, at dawn, the bright light will send a signal to your body, causing the body to slowly produce melatonin and adrenaline, which can make it easier for you to get up.
3
Use psychological effects. This sounds difficult, but don’t let your mind go into a fuzzy state. Before it starts to become blank, there are some things to think about. For example, a joke, a movie, or anything that can keep you mentally awake. You can even think about the things that can make you crazy, but it works better. Because you know that except for those who are drunk, it is impossible for people who are angry to fall asleep right away.
Tips
Distract your attention. Don’t focus on your current exhausted state, but pay attention to other things, such as work and other completely different things.
You need to know that sometimes our body is not as tired as we think. For example, all day you are looking forward to get home from get off work and get a good sleep. But did you fall asleep when you got home? When most of us get home, we will spend the rest of the day full of energy, not even sleepy at all. This is the result of your psychological effects.

Drink more water. Dehydration can also cause drowsiness and dizziness. Drinking some cold water can make you sober.
Don’t drink too many caffeinated beverages. Caffeine can only stimulate your consciousness in a short time. After a few hours, when the caffeine expires, you will feel ten times sleepier than before.
