Ivanka Trump: I Rejected my Father’s View of the World Bank Presidency
Trump said last week that he had proposed to his daughter to take the top position at the World Bank “because she is ingenious in dealing with the figures.”
Ivanka was quoted as saying during her visit to the Ivory Coast that her father asked her how much she wanted to take up the job and refused, adding that Malpas “will do a great job.”
Ivanka said that when her father asked her about her job, she rejected the job and said she was happy with the job she currently is a White House adviser.
Ivanka was involved in the selection of the current head of the World Bank, American economist David Malpas.
The United States has long had the privilege of choosing the president of the World Bank.”
When a reporter asked her if her father had offered her another job, Ivanka said, “I’ll keep this between me and my parents.”
In an interview last week, Trump said he had thought of naming his daughter in several positions, including the United States ambassador to the United Nations because he believed his daughter was “diplomatic by nature,” as he used it.
Trump said he had been warned about his daughter’s appointment, saying: “They would have said it was a favoritism, but it had nothing to do with nepotism.”
Ivanka is currently on a tour of several African countries to support the Global Initiative for the Advancement of Women, a US initiative to support women’s participation in various fields of work.
The announcement of the initiative coincided two months ago with Trump’s proposed cuts in foreign aid and a ban on US health aid to groups that support abortion or provide it to those who want it.
Ivanka participated in the first conference of leading women entrepreneurs in the Ivorian capital Abidjan on Wednesday.
