London Fashion Week and Ukrainian Fashion Week Launched

London Fashion Week begin. Thus continuing with what FashionUnited announced at the end of last July, this new edition of London Fashion Week will be based on a hybrid model, which will accommodate both physical and exclusively digital presentations. This modality of presentations that the catwalk management, organized by the British Fashion Council, put into practice for the first time in 2018 based on its DiscoveryLAB initiative, focused especially on supporting emerging designers who have not yet met the the expected requirements to be able to jump to the official calendar of a London Fashion Week. All this, while in addition and in parallel to the parades and presentations of the heterogeneous official calendar programmed by the BFC, the celebrations that will extend from end to end of the British capital, through the City Wide Celebration initiative, are being completed. An activation also promoted by the BFC, which for its part has an independent calendar with all kinds of events and activities open to the public, and which have been taking place since this past Wednesday, September 13, and from there continue until next Tuesday 19 in which this new September edition of London Fashion Week (LFW) will end up closing its doors.

From JW Anderson, to Richard Quinn and Burberry

Moving on to place our focus of attention solely and exclusively on the official program of the London catwalk, after a different sum of previous events that began to take place during the afternoon/night of this past Thursday, September 14, it is estimated that during this new edition of London Fashion Week, up to a total of 137 fashion houses will end up participating in its celebrations, contemplating the celebration of up to 111 physical activations and 36 digital activations as the main part of the official calendar of the event. A varied program for which it is worth, and even necessary, to go to the official website of the BFC, and from which the participation of 82 designers, the organization of 49 catwalk shows, the celebration of 15 presentations are contemplated. and 47 events, and the dissemination of up to 36 digital activations. This group includes up to 15 emerging designers, as part of the DiscoveryLAB digital initiative launched in 2018 by the BFC.

Among all this series of events, presentations and parades, there will be up to 70 physical presentations and parades that the calendar will end up hosting, with 50 of them being the physical parades that this new one will end up hosting. edition of London Fashion Week. For this category, these are presentations in which, on one side, we will find the most consolidated brands of the current London fashion scene, and on the other, some emerging brands that, as part of the BFC Newgen initiative, will be able to participate. of these celebrations showing their fashion proposals, mainly from the “Newgen” presentation space, expressly arranged for this by the British Fashion Council. Leaving within this same section also a special space for the unique fashion shows that are going to take place, featuring everything from the brands chosen by the independent initiative Fashion East, to the fashion shows of students from some of the main design schools in London fashion, or the one that will take place starring Ukrainian brands and designers, as part of the initiative to support Ukrainian fashion launched between London Fashion Week and Ukrainian Fashion Week.

 

In this way, and standing out within both groups, among the most notable brands that will parade from this new edition of LFW, we are going to find JW Anderson, Roksanda, Richard Quinn, Simone Rocha or Burberry. While within the group of emerging brands, the brands Aaron Esh, Derrick, Kazna Asker, The Winter House and Tolu Coker will also make their debut within an official LFW calendar, many of them from the BFC Newgen Show space Space that will be available for this at The Old Selfridges Hotel in London, courtesy of the Selfridges department store. New funding for the BFW Newgen program

As part of the rest of the activations that will complete the calendar, the 30th anniversary of the launch of the BFC Newgen initiative, launched by the British Fashion Council to support and promote emerging designers, will be celebrated. , with the commemorative exhibition “Rebel: 30 Years of London Fashion”. An exhibition financed by the Alexander McQueen house and curated by Sarah Mower, which will open its doors to the public this coming September 16 and until February 11, 2024, after an opening ceremony that took place this week, and during the that Lucy Frazer, Secretary of Culture and Sport of the British Government, announced the granting of 2 million pounds to finance the presentations during London Fashion Week of the new emerging designers of the BFW Newgen program.
