“New Zealand Mosque Killer ” Refuses Lawyer to Defend Himself

Brenton Trent, the Australian, has attacked the two Mosque in Christchurch, New Zealand, decided he would defend himself, his former lawyer told  media.

The 28-year-old is accused of carrying out a horrific massacre of the El Nour mosque and the Lynnwood  in Christchurch last Friday, in which 50 people were killed and dozens injured.

“He pointed out that he did not want a lawyer,” lawyer Richard Peters, who was appointed by the court to represent Tarrant during a preliminary court hearing.

“He wants to represent himself in the case,” he said, dismissing allegations that Tarrant may not be mentally fit to appear in court.

“The way he presented it was rational and (warning) about a person who does not suffer any mental disability, so he appeared to understand what was happening” around him.”

Saturday, like a former fitness coach and right-wing activist, handcuffed and wearing a white shirt worn by detainees in court.

He has not applied for his release on bail and will remain in prison until his appearance before the court on April 5.
