Pixel 6a Conquering the Mid-Range: The First Images of the Google Smartphone

If you are still waiting for Google to sell Pixel 6 and its Pro variant, know that on the net there is already talk of its “successor” or, better, of the “a” version of the 2021 top range. As often happens, OnLeaks allows us to take a look at what the smartphone will presumably look like thanks to a series of renderings published in collaboration with 91mobiles.

Pixel 6a should represent the mid-range offering of Mountain View, without however giving up that unique and generally appreciated design that distinguishes this year’s lineup. Therefore, 6a will also be made of bi-color glass and will have a photographic module on the back consisting of a horizontal black band: there is no information on which cameras will be integrated, we know for the moment that there will be two, flanked by a positioned LED flash. at the far right.

The body has a size of 152.2×71.8×8.7mm, and considering also the photographic module the thickness reaches 10.4mm. As a term of comparison, Pixel 5a – of which the 6a will be heir – measures 154.9×73.7×7.6mm. The OLED display has a diagonal of 6.2 inches (6.34 “on the 5th), interrupted by a central hole that houses the front camera. The fingerprint sensor is hidden under the panel.

As for the technical specifications, the question marks are still many, perhaps too many to outline a precise picture. In any case, the source assumes a Tensor processor in the lite version (but a Snapdragon is not to be excluded), up to 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal memory, while the main camera could be the same as we find on Pixel 6, that is the 50MP Samsung ISOCELL GN1. We repeat, these are assumptions made by the site that collaborated with OnLeaks for the creation and publication of the renderings, to date we have no certainty about it.

At the moment, no details have emerged on when Google plans to launch the Pixel 6a on the market. As a comparison, it should be taken into account that 5a was released in August, but we do not know if the Mountain View company intends to maintain these timelines also next year.
