Southeast Asia’s 5G Services on the Road Next Year

South Korea Youjin Investment Securities chief analyst Li Chengyu pointed out that with the increase in shipments of 5G models, it is estimated that global smartphone shipments will increase by 5% to 1.44 billion in 2020, representing the first growth in 4 years. Related semiconductors, Electronic parts factories are expected to benefit greatly. Among the beneficiary stocks in South Korea, Lee Seung-woo named Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix. In Taiwan, the foundry leader TSMC is expected to expand its profits, mainly because TSMC has high competitiveness in the most advanced CPU manufacturing required for 5G smartphones.

MediaTek just released a new product for 5G in November. It is estimated that orders from Chinese manufacturers will increase in 2020. Qualcomm said on November 19 that the global shipments of 5G smartphones in 2020 are estimated to be 200 million, which will double to 450 million in 2021 and further expand to 750 million in 2022.
