Turkey’s Pro-Kurdish HDP Party Co-Chairman Selahattin Demirtaş Went on Hunger Strike

 Pro-Kurdish HDP Party  Co-Chairman Selahattin Demirtaş, DBP Co-Chair Sebahat Tuncel and Hakkari MP Abdullah Zeydan are reported to be on a hunger strike.

In the statement made by HDP Headquarters, Demirtaş reportedly sent the following message:

“We are starting a hunger strike on Friday because the Director of Edirne Prison has not taken any goodwill steps about the closed attitude of the dialogue, illegal practices, inhuman practices against other prisoners, and the ending of the ongoing hunger strikes.

We invite the public to be sensitive about ongoing hunger strikes and violations in prisons. ”

DBP Co-Chair Sebahat Tuncel, who is under arrest in Silivri Prison,

Demirtas was taken into custody on 4 November and was later arrested and sent to prison.
