Rolls-Royce Fell Almost 5%

Rolls-Royce drops Wednesday on the London Stock Exchange after an emergency landing of an Iberia aircraft due to a problem on a Trent XWB engine manufactured by the British manufacturer.

The title fell 1.74% to 958 pence around 10:55 GMT, signing one of the largest declines in Footsie, almost stable at the same time (-0.02%).

Iberia Airlines Flight 6252 landed in emergency at Boston Logan Airport. A spokesman for the Spanish company, a subsidiary of IAG, said that technical teams were trying to solve the problem, the cause of which remained unknown at this stage.

Ninety minutes into the flight, the aircraft with 265 passengers on board was already well over the Atlantic Ocean, flying at a cruising altitude of 39,000 feet, when the pilots made a U-turn, descended to FL250 and headed to the nearest large airport, Boston Logan.

The plane landed without incident and there were no injuries.
