The Apple Watch Series 8 Rugged Model is Said to Introduce a New Design

Apple is reportedly planning to debut a high-end Apple Watch with a larger screen and a new design, Bloomberg reports.

Apple increased the screen size of last year’s Series 7 views, which offers an edge-to-edge display that eliminates much of the border on previous models. But Bloomberg says the new top-of-the-line model will feature the first major design change since 2018, with a 7% larger display than the Series 7 model. It also has a durable design, longer battery life and a body temperature sensor, the report said. .

This could be a sign that Apple is targeting the GarminFenix 7 series of watches with large screens, long battery life, and rugged designs. These watches are popular with hikers and runners who need more battery life than the Apple Watch offers.

Apple Watch sales are included in the company’s “Other Products” segment, which reported $8.81 billion in revenue last quarter, up 12.3% year over year. The changes could help Apple serve an audience that might not otherwise buy an Apple Watch.

Apple is also expected to announce a new version of its $279 Apple Watch SE, according to the report. The SE models generally include features found in previous iterations of the Apple Watch, but at a lower price.

An Apple spokesperson was not immediately available for comment.
