Trump Enters Israeli Election Line
US President Donald Trump on Monday predicted close results in Israeli elections in which Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu seeks to stay in power in a highly contested election race.
“Tomorrow is a bus election in Israel,” Trump told reporters at the White House. “It’s going to be close. It’s an election with a potential (profit and loss) probability.”
On Tuesday, Israel is to hold its second general election in five months, in which Netanyahu is locked in a heated battle to retain his post.
Netanyahu, Israel’s longest-serving prime minister, suffered his biggest political loss when he failed to form a coalition despite his right-wing Likud party’s election victory.
Netanyahu chose to return to the ballot box to block the possibility of President Reuven Rivlin assigning another figure to form a government.

This comes in parallel with judicial investigations against Netanyahu, who may be charged in the coming weeks on corruption charges.
The latest opinion polls published on Friday predicted a close race between Likud and a blue-white coalition led by former army chief of staff Benny Gantz, without ruling out a repeat of the impasse in previous elections.
The election is expected to be a new referendum on Netanyahu and his policies
