The Linux Giant is Downsizing with Almost 800 Employees

Red Hat’s CEO Matt Hicks announced that the Linux company plans to lay off just under four percent of its workforce.
According to Red Hat’s website, the IBM-owned company has 19,000 employees worldwide. The reductions would thus affect 760 people.
In a notice on the company’s website, Hicks states that the staff reductions will take place over the next few months.
“Our reductions will target general, administrative and similar roles across all functions and represent a reduction of just under four percent,” he writes.
He adds that they won’t cut any roles that sell directly to customers or that build their products.
Hicks further states that the decision is necessary in today’s environment and also mentions the need to adapt the company’s resources to the number of employees and strategy.
