It is noteworthy that there are 14 South Koreans aboard “Diamond Princess”, nine of them are passengers and five are crew members, none of them were infected.
Earlier, the Japanese authorities announced the registration of more than 350 cases of “Corona” aboard the ill-fated ship, whose total number of passengers and crew is about 3,700 people.
The United States yesterday evacuated its citizens from the ship, while a number of countries intend to carry out similar operations as well.
The first people to fly home are Americans. The U.S. government has decided to return home on board the chartered 380 Americans who have no symptoms of infection, including fever and cough. As a result, more than 300 American passengers aboard the Princess Princess boarded a plane to return to the United States early in the morning. The night before they got off the boat to Tokyo Haneda Airport, they shared two charters. One will land at Travis Air Force Base in California and the other at Lakeland Air Force Base in Texas. Passengers returning to another two weeks of isolation under the supervision of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention .
Hong Kong will also be chartered to bring in more than 330 Hong Kong citizens aboard the ship. The Hong Kong Security Agency said, “We will confirm the charter date as soon as the consultation with the Japanese authorities is over.” He urged the Japanese to confirm the schedule in detail. Taiwan is also in talks with the Japanese government to evacuate more than 20 passengers. In addition, Canada and Italy have also sent charters to Japan to support the withdrawal of their citizens aboard cruise ships. The Korean government has also made a plan to arrange domestic transportation if any Koreans on board are hoping to return home.
In Japan, about five months ahead of the opening of the 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the nervous situation continues. As of January 16, there were a total of 414 people infected with Corona 19, including 355 people on cruise ships. If the Corona 19 incident continues without a calm, there is concern that the Tokyo Olympics, which will open on July 24, may be disrupted. The Tokyo Olympics have already been adversely affected by Corona 19, with the cancellation of preliminary competitions and changes in schedules and venues.
