Turkey Lifts Block on Access to YouTube
Turkey’s Telecommunications Directorate has made YouTube accessible to Turkish users again.
Access to YouTube was restored on Tuesday after the Constitutional Court ruled that banning the website was a violation of freedom of speech.
The ban, in place for 67 days, was implemented by the Turkish government after a sensitive video allegedly showing officials discussing a military incursion into Syria was leaked online by an anonymous user on March 27.
A similar ban on the micro-blogging site Twitter was also deemed a violation of free speech by the Constitutional Court.
