U.S. Stocks Close in Red Dow Jones Rises 236 Points
The rise in international crude oil prices has encouraged energy stocks. Together with a series of optimistic economic data from the United States, inflation has peaked and the economic recovery is still strong, boosting investor sentiment. The three major US stock indexes closed in red today.
The Dow Jones index rose 236.82 points, or 0.68%, to close at 34814.39 points.
The S&P 500 index rose 37.65 points, or 0.85%, to close at 4480.70 points.
The Nasdaq index rose 123.77 points, or 0.82%, to close at 15161.53 points.
The Philadelphia Semiconductor Index climbed 16.37 points, or 0.47%, to close at 3465.76 points.
