Ukraine Budget for 2019 will be Approved by IMF

The Minister of Finance Oksana Markarova reminded that prior to adoption, the main financial document was consistently agreed with the main creditor of Ukraine.

Oksana Markarova said that Verkhovna Rada approved the state budget for 2019 will be approved by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to receive financial assistance from Ukraine.

She reminded that Ukraine had discussed the draft budget with the IMF at all its stages, and now it was the last step to provide macro-financial assistance to Ukraine.

“At the moment, the draft budget will be aimed at consulting with our partners. In the near future, we will proceed with the choice of the date when the IMF will issue a new program for approval (financial assistance – ed.). For Ukraine, the money of the first tranche will go to the reserves of the National Bank of Ukraine . Approval of the program will also enable us to obtain macro-financial assistance from the European Union, “Markarova said.

Recall recently the IMF predicted that Ukraine will receive a tranche for the new program by the end of the year, but there were two conditions: gas tariff increases and approval of the state budget. With the first they managed before, and the state budget was taken out this week.

In turn, Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman noted that today’s decision of the parliament will strengthen cooperation in the IMF and receive another financial assistance. He stated that the adopted budget-2019 is balanced and realistic.
