Boletim Focus: projection for 2023 inflation rises to 5.98% and GDP rises to 0.91%

The IPCA projection for 2024 rose from 4.13% to 4.14%, while the 2025 and 2026 remained at 4.0%.

For the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) the projection for 2023 increased from 0.90% to 0.91% while that of 2024 fell from 1.48% to 1.44, that of 2025 retreated from 1.80% to 1, 76 and that of 2026 also parked at 1.80%.

Selic

The forecast for the basic interest rate of the Brazilian economy (Selic) has been maintained for eight weeks at 12.75% for 2023, the same period as for 2024, which remains at 10.0%. The one for 2025 has been at 9.0% for nine weeks. As for 2026, it remained at 8.75%.

Exchange

The estimate for the dollar was maintained at R$5.25 for this year (10th week in a row of stability), but that for 2024 dropped from R$5.30 to R$5.27. The projection for 2025 has been at BRL 5.30 for 16 weeks, while for 2026 it fell from BRL 5.40 to BRL 5.35.
