An Application to Care for and Follow Coronavirus Sufferers

The Generalitat’s Health Department (Spain)has created a mobile application to care for and monitor patients with coronavirus, aimed at those who are confined to their home. With this tool, the Generalitat wants to improve care for those affected who are at home, preventing them from going to health centers, and at the same time collecting information on the evolution of the pandemic throughout the Catalan territory.

The Minister of Health, Alba Verges, explained this Wednesday at a press conference via streaming that it is “a new tool to strengthen” care for the sick, which asks “the same questions that professionals would ask” and is coordinated with the others digital information programs for users of the health system. It is expected to be launched this Wednesday for Android and IOS computer systems.

Verges has insisted that “it is a simple mobile application” to be used from home, but he has the guarantee that behind it there are health professionals who will act based on the information provided. “We want to respond to citizens and feel close to the health system,” she said. In addition, it will allow “seeing how the epidemic evolves and putting the best decisions at the service of citizens,” he added.

“With this care channel, citizens can interact and monitor their health status,” Roma explained, maintaining that it is a tool to provide “specific attention to citizens”. The application has been designed with the collaboration of TIC Salud, a public company, and the collaboration of companies integrated in health information systems. This is a tool that is added to the telephones that are already working to serve the population, 112 is still operational to notify of the most serious cases and 061 for minor cases, as until now.
