Cuba Present at the International Tourism Fair of Spain
The Cuban Minister of Tourism, Juan Carlos García, attends today the 41st edition of the International Tourism Fair (Fitur 2021), which is held at the Ifema fair in Madrid.
Garcia pointed out this Wednesday that the island delegation participated in the 24 Ibero-American Conference of Tourism Ministers and Entrepreneurs (CIMET 2021), preamble to Fitur (May 19-23).
At this meeting, the Havana representation promoted the new Business Opportunities Portfolio, and disseminated how to promote foreign investment in new projects, especially between Cuba and Spain.

In the presentation, Garcia explained that his country has 76 thousand rooms managed by different national and international hotel chains, 75 percent of which are four and five stars.
He highlighted the new generation of luxury hotels that are beginning to distinguish Havana, the nation’s capital (more than 25 thousand rooms from the private sector throughout the country are added to the aforementioned figure).
As part of the Cuban delegation, the Commercial Director of the Ministry of Tourism of Cuba (Mintur), Michel Bernal, the Director of Communication Dulce María Sánchez, and presidents of hotel entities and the business group Viajes Cuba attend.
During the preliminary exchanges with the main partners of the Spanish market, Cuba showed its new hotel products, excursions, and ways of doing tourism at the present time, with the total guarantee of current sanitary hygiene protocols.
At Fitur, the island is present with a stand located in Hall 3, number C04. Cuba is committed to the safety of visitors and workers during the gradual restart of tourist operations.
The More Hygienic and Safe Tourism certification is implemented in all island hotel facilities, which combines the recommendations of the World Health Organization and the Ministry of Public Health of the Caribbean island.

Fitur is the first annual face-to-face meeting for world tourism professionals, a leader for incoming and outgoing markets in Latin America.
In its 2020 edition, it broke the participation record with 11 thousand 40 companies from 165 countries and regions, 150 thousand 11 professionals, and 111 thousand 89 visitors from the general public.
