Demand for the Abolition of the Reform in Transport Prices

In Israel addressing the Ministers of Finance and Transportation indicates serious shortcomings in the conduct of the planned reform of public transport prices and demands that the reform be frozen immediately, before applying to the High Court (Transportation)

The struggle for the weaker sections and against the planned public transportation reform of Minister Merav Michaeli – is strengthened by the organization ‘Truth to Yaakov’, which was addressed Tuesday in a letter exhausting procedures to the ministers of transport and finance, before he had to apply to the High Court.

In a letter sent by attorneys Dr. Yechiel Weinroth, Meir Avraham Vigel David from the office of Dr. Y. Weinroth & Co., to the Minister of Transportation Merav Michaeli, Finance Minister Yvette Lieberman and the Ministry of Finance’s Prices Committee, the applicants claim that the planned reform creates a wide range of Problems, including five notable points: 1. It cancels the accumulated value order on the multi-line card 2. It cancels a discount for the socially weakened cities 3. It harms those who do not have a smart cell phone 4. It includes drawing a puzzling peripheral city map. And most importantly, it is completely devoid of directing resources to improving service in public transportation.

The lawyers accuse the Ministries of Finance and Transportation of trampling on the proper administrative procedure, analyze the discussions held on the subject in the Knesset and the harsh criticisms voiced in them about the reform. According to them, Michaeli and Lieberman did not fulfill the obligation to consult required by law, and therefore there is an administrative defect at the basis of the process.

Lawyers point to flawed criteria in choosing re-pricing, in a sort of egalitarian sodomy bed that hurts the weak on so-called ‘egalitarian’ grounds. Advocates also note that they reserve the right to legally attack both the conduct in terms of the defective procedure in which the process was conducted and in terms of the nature and content of the reform itself, and point to a complete inadequacy of the reform.

Finally, the attorneys demand that the ministers order the revocation of the orders, and at least freeze the reform until it is re-examined in depth.
