Gargash: We have Taken Care of Saudi Arabia from Our Concern for Ourselves
The Minister of the UAE for Foreign Affairs Anwar Gargash said that from the point of view of the people of the Gulf and the region, the presence and role of Saudi Arabia is a basis for stability and development in a difficult and turbulent environment.
“Transient crises will not change this fact,” Gargash wrote on Twitter. “Saudi Arabia is central to everything that matters to the region and we are keen on it.
Gargash’s statement comes within the framework of his country’s solidarity with Saudi Arabia in the offensive campaign against which it is accused of involvement in the disappearance and even the killing of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi, who lost his influence after entering the Saudi consulate on October 2.
“Khashoggi was killed inside the Saudi consulate,” a senior official in Riyadh said. Saudi Arabia’s King Salman bin Abdul Aziz called for an urgent investigation into Khashoggi’s fate.
Saudi Arabia also sent a team of investigators to Turkey to work with a Turkish criminal team to inspect the Saudi consulate as part of the investigation.
