İlk Plastik Banknot Tedavüle Girdi
İngiltere Merkez Bankası (BoE), ülke tarihinin ilk plastik banknotunun İngiltere ve Galler’de tedavüle girdiğini duyurdu.
Euronews’te yer alan habere göre, 5 Sterlin’lik banknotun ön yüzünde eski İngiltere başbakanı Winston Churchill’in ‘ün portresi bulunuyor. Paranın tasarımında Churchill’in 1940 yılında İngiliz Parlamentosu’ndaki konuşmasında geçen, “Kan, meşakkat, ter ve göz yaşından başka vadedecek bir şeyim yok” ifadesine de yer verildi.
Yeni banknot, mevcut 5 Sterlin’lik kağıt versiyonundan yüzde 15 daha küçük boyutta.
Merkez Bankası daha hijyenik ve dayanıklı olan plastik sahtesini basmanın daha zor olduğunu açıkladı. Plastik 5 Sterlin’ler ilk olarak Londra, Manchester, Leeds, Hull ve Cardiff şehirlerinde tedavülde olacak.
