Japan Stocks Close Higher

The Stock Exchange of Japan closed with advances this Tuesday; earnings in the pulp, paper and pulp, rail and bus, and real estate sectors pushed shares higher.

At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 added 4.88%.

The best value of the session in the Nikkei 225 was JFE Holdings, Inc. (T: 5411), with an increase of 11.70%, 93.0 points, to settle at 888.0 at the close. They are followed by Taiheiyo Cement Corp. (T: 5233), which advanced 10.97%, 261.0 points, to close at 2,641.0, and IHI Corp. (T: 7013), which rose 10.62%, 163.0 points, to dismiss the session at 1,698.0.

At the bottom of the index was Sony Financial Holdings Inc. (T: 8729), which advanced 0.08%, that is, 2.0 points, to close at 2,594.0. Chubu Electric Power Co., Inc. (T: 9502), meanwhile, rebounded 0.14%, 2.0 points, and closed at 1,414.5, while Idemitsu Kosan Co Ltd (T: 5019) scored 0.59%, 14.0 points, to finish at 2,384.0.

Green stocks outnumbered reds on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 3407 to 221, and 61 ended flat.

The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the volatility of options on the Nikkei 225, finished flat, 0%, up at 39.59 marking a new one-month high.

Crude oil futures for July delivery fell 0.19%, 0.07, to $ 37.05 a barrel. As for other raw materials, brent oil futures for August delivery rebounded 0.05%, 0.02, to stay at $ 39.74 a barrel, while gold futures for August delivery rose 0 , 38%, 6.55, up to $ 1,733.75 a troy ounce.

The USD / JPY rose 0.00%, to stand at 107.31, while the EUR / JPY, meanwhile, advanced 0.12% to 121.64.

The dollar index fell 0.14%, to 96,510.
