Jordan is Launching Commercial 5G Services for All Companies

The fifth generation service in Jordan may see the light in the first quarter of next year.

Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship Ahmed Hanandeh said, on Tuesday, that Jordan is in the process of launching fifth generation (5G) services commercially for all companies, stressing the importance of technology and services that are achieved after its launch.

Hanandeh added, on the sidelines of the launch of the fifth generation summit, that fifth generation services provide support for government plans and strategies.

Hanandeh stressed the importance of adapting the fifth generation technology to serve the Jordanian society, stressing that the aim of providing the fifth generation technology is to serve the Jordanians and the economy.

The authority stated that one of the companies (a security company) operated the service in Zarqa and Irbid, and the infrastructure for the fifth generation towers in Amman and Aqaba is currently being prepared.

In September 2022, the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority signed an agreement with the Jordanian company for mobile phone services “Zain”, in preparation for the introduction of fifth generation services to Jordan, after it signed the same agreement in August with “Orange” and “Umniah”.
