Famous actor Kirk Douglas died at the age of 103 after a busy movie career. The man whose name is associated with the epic movie Spartacus left behind his wife Ann Biddens, 65, and his three sons, Michael, Joel and Erik.

Douglas suffered a heart attack in 1996 but has been in good health ever since. Douglas won one Oscar for the hero film in 1950 and nominated her twice, which he did not win. He founded a film company that produced two films, Spartacus and Paths of Glory, in which he starred.

His son Michael Douglas is also famous for acting and he received an Oscar twice as well as the rest of his sons worked in the Hollywood film industry between writing, directing and producing. His grandson, Cameron Douglas even acted, as the Douglas family is one of the oldest and most ancient of Hollywood families.

It is with tremendous sadness that my brothers and I announce that Kirk Douglas left us today at the age of 103. To the world he was a legend, an actor from the golden age of movies who lived well into his golden years, a humanitarian whose commitment to justice and the causes he believed in set a standard for all of us to aspire to. But to me and my brothers Joel and Peter he was simply Dad, to Catherine, a wonderful father-in-law, to his grandchildren and great grandchild their loving grandfather, and to his wife Anne, a wonderful husband. Kirk’s life was well lived, and he leaves a legacy in film that will endure for generations to come, and a history as a renowned philanthropist who worked to aid the public and bring peace to the planet. Let me end with the words I told him on his last birthday and which will always remain true. Dad- I love you so much and I am so proud to be your son. #KirkDouglas

Kirk Douglas has worked on 75 films. Michael Douglas said in an exclusive statement to People magazine. “He was a legend in the world, an artist from the golden age of cinema who enjoyed his golden years, a person whose commitment to justice and the issues he believes in will continue to inspire us all.” Douglas is of Russian ancestry and his real name is Ezor Danialovich, where he spent his poor childhood with immigrant parents and six sisters. Douglas was known for his serious drama roles, including Western and Warship Films. During his six-decade career, he appeared in more than 90 films, and in 1960 he helped end the blacklist in Hollywood.

Kirk  Dougles daughter-in-law, Catherine Zeta-Jones writes a not on instagram and said  “to my darling Kirk, I shall love you for the rest of my life. I miss you already. Sleep tight”
