Swedish Public Health Agency: What Times to Use Mout Protection

In a press release, the Swedish Public Health Agency specifies which times apply to mouth protection in public transport and which ages apply.

The Swedish Public Health Agency recommends that, from 7 January 2021, you wear mouth protection in public transport between 07.00 – 09.00 and 16.00 – 18.00. This applies to weekdays, throughout Sweden.

It is also recommended to wear a mouth protection during the times on weekdays when many people are in public transport at the same time and therefore create congestion.

The recommendation on mouth protection is aimed at people born in 2004 and earlier. In other words, high school age and up.

It is more effective to keep your distance than to be close to others and have mouth guards. But we know that public transport means situations where congestion can be difficult to avoid despite the recommendation to choose other means of transport in the first place. Then mouth protection can be useful, says state epidemiologist Anders Tegnell in a press release.
