KOSPI, Oil Prices Plummet

The KOSPI rose on March 14, but is dropping due to the plunge in international oil prices.

At 10 am on the day, the KOSPI closed down 5.44 points (0.26 percent) from the previous trading day to 2,065.79.

The index jumped 0.18 points, or 0.01%, to 2,071.41.

The West Texas crude oil (WTI) plunged 7.1 percent on Friday (July 13). The Dow Jones Industrial Average and the S & P 500 fell 0.40 percent and 0.15 percent, respectively, on the New York Stock Exchange.

Samsung Electronics (-0.90%), SK Hynix (-1.53%) and POSCO (-1.95%) were falling, while Celltrion (0.50%), LG Chemical (0.30%) and Hyundai Motor Is climbing.
