Tighten the Limits of Radiation from Smartphones for 5G

There is no evidence that cellular networks cause cancer or other human diseases, but smart phone radiation regulations will nevertheless be tightened  under new international rules proposed by scientists. Existing 5G devices are already within the range of radiation exposure.

The International Radiation Protection Council  is now proposing the first update of radiation, radio, wireless and Bluetooth connectivity rules from 1998. It proposes that the rules be tightened only before the 5G technology has fully entered.

The new rules do not affect 5G telecommunications towers but the smartphones themselves when connected to a 5G network. The smartphones that already support 5G technology are said to emit radiation within the new range as well as the phones that manufacturers have on the drawing board.

The wireless communications technology that has been taught at 5G delivers much faster data transfer than is possible with older technologies. It is run at a higher frequency than the current generation of mobile transmitters and is therefore more short-lived.

Scientists from The International Radiation Protection Council have published a scientific study on the effects of electromagnetic fields on human health in recent years. There is no evidence that cellular networks cause human health harm.

“We have also considered all other types of effects, such as whether radio waves can lead to the formation of cancer in the human body. We found that there is insufficient scientific evidence to conclude that such an effect exists, “says Eric van Rongen, president of The International Radiation Protection Council.

5G mobile transmitter in China. More such transmitters are needed than for older generations of telecommunications technology as the 5G signal is more short-lived.

Various groups have argued the opposite and fought for even stricter rules for 5G technology. The UK Telecommunications Authority’s study of 5G mobile telephones revealed that radiation was well within the permitted range. When the radiation was highest, it reached only 1.5% of the allowable limit.

Concerns about the alleged harmful effects of radiation from 5G communications are traced to a flawed study conducted in the US that was supposed to show that people’s brains would be exposed to more radiation as the frequency of the wireless signal increases.

Experts say the effect is quite opposite. Radio waves thus become safer as their frequency increases, as stated in last year’s New York Times review.
