US Exporters Benefit from Gas Crisis

US gas exporters see skyrocketing prices as a fantastic business opportunity.

Many want to create fresh capacities in order to benefit from the global scarcity. However, this does not fit in with the environmental policy of the new US president.

In the US, many exporters of liquefied natural gas (LNG) are expecting golden times. The price explosion on the world’s gas markets and the shortage of gas in Asia and Europe could help the industry to do brilliant business. In Asia, for example, the demand for gas has risen exorbitantly due to the global economic upturn. And in Europe, wholesale prices have been rising steeply for months, which has long led to significantly higher prices for consumers.

On the spot markets, that is, the markets where gas is traded for immediate delivery at short notice, the prices for natural gas have more than doubled since the beginning of the year.
