Audi Updates the Q5

Audi updates the Q5 to provide it with the latest available technological innovations and to propose some aesthetic touches. The German manufacturer has not wanted to experiment and has remained faithful to the attributes that have led it to be one of the most popular models in its category.

The restyling of the second generation of the Audi Q5 that we have been able to know in its presentation is already on sale. There are no drastic changes, it stays true to the recipe that has led it to be one of the most iconic SUVs in its segment and simply Audi updates it with the latest design and technology novelties of the brand to face opponents like the BMW X3, Mercedes GLC or Volvo XC60.

The District Green color is one of the new tones available for the body of the Q5 2021
The exterior changes of the Q5 are focused on offering a more attractive and stylish appearance. The front part receives different led headlights that show a new light signature and the octagonal Singleframe grille has gained in width and presents more marked volumes to enhance its three-dimensional appearance.

The aesthetics of the bumpers are also modified, now with higher side air intakes and flanked by trapezoidal moldings. This element changes depending on the level of equipment chosen, as do the different alloy wheels available between 18 and 21 inches. In the 2021 range, in addition to the base finish, the optional Advanced, Black line and S line finish lines are proposed.

The skirts have been redesigned and at the rear the light clusters are joined by a new decorative molding that adds a touch of elegance. Optics that offer optional OLED rear lights for the first time. OLEDs are organic light-emitting diodes that generate a homogeneous luminous surface and that in the Q5 are divided into three sections with six segments each, allowing to display different designs and light signatures.

OLED pilots are incorporated for the first time in a large series model
In this way, a customer can choose between three different lighting signatures for the rear lights, each with its own light sequence when opening or closing the vehicle, thus taking the customization capacity to a previously unpublished element. Speaking of individualization, it should be noted that there are 12 colors available for the body of which two (District Green and Ultra Blue) are new.

The aesthetic renovation increases the size of the German SUV by 19 mm due to the new shapes of the bumpers, so its length is fixed at 4.68 meters. The rest of the elevations remain unchanged, leaving the width at 1.89 m, the height at 1.66 m and the wheelbase at 2.82 m. Right between the compact Q3 and the big seven-seater Q7.

In the same way, the load capacity remains unchanged by proposing a 550-liter boot which is accessed through a large gate with electric opening as standard. By folding down the back of the rear seats, the volume is expanded to 1,550 liters in this Audi. The height of the loading edge is remarkable since it is 76 cm from the ground, which makes it necessary to make an effort when introducing heavy objects.

Superb build quality for the interior of the German SUV
In the passenger compartment the variations introduced in this restyling come from a technological point of view. A new generation of the MIB3 multimedia system is introduced, compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and with a central 10.1-inch touchscreen that comes standard on all versions. In combination with the MMI Navigation plus system, standard from the Advanced trim, the Audi connect services for navigation and infotainment are included.

These online services provide real-time traffic information, traffic forecast, high-resolution images from Google Earth, information on free parking spaces, DAB + digital radio or Amazon’s Alexa service. It is also possible to operate some functions remotely using the myAudi application that connects the smartphone with the vehicle.

The brand with the four rings also adds the Audi Virtual cockpit plus digital instrument cluster to its popular SUV, which is standard from the Advanced finish, with a 12.3-inch screen. In the list of optional elements is the head-up display that projects vehicle, assistant or navigation information directly onto the windshield.
