DualSense for PlayStation 5 Presented by Sony
Sony unveiled DualSense, the PlayStation 5 controller designed to capture “multiple senses while interacting with virtual worlds” and offer a much more immersive and immersive gaming experience.
It’s called DualSense, and was designed to capture “multiple senses while interacting with the virtual worlds of PlayStation 5 titles”, to offer a much more immersive and immersive gaming experience. From an aesthetic point of view, DualSense appears as an improved and optimized version of the current DualShock 4, with a slightly different handle, so as to offer players a firmer grip, without however weighing on the dimensions of the controller itself.
What is most striking is the choice of colors: no longer a monochromatic design, but a controller that alternates black and white (and the PlayStation community is already speculating that this may also be present in other color-combos).
DualSense implements a revolutionary tactile feedback, which gives new powerful sensations when playing, vibrating, for example, when driving a car in the mud, to accentuate the feeling of slowness. The new controller for PlayStation 5 also incorporates adaptive triggers in the L2 and R2 keys, so that “you can really feel the tension of your actions, like when you stretch a bow to shoot an arrow”.
The Share button of the current DualShock 4 has also been replaced with the Create button. Of the latter, Sony has not said much, except that it will allow players “to create epic content to share with the world and to have fun” . DualSense also implements a microphone thanks to which players can quickly access voice chat and talk with their friends without necessarily having to use earphones. In addition, there is also an integrated speaker.
Finally, the position of the Lightbar has been changed. If on DualShock 4, it is located on the top of the controller, on the next-gen PlayStation controller it is located on each side of the touchpad, thus giving it a larger appearance.
