Female Suicide Bomber Killed Policeman At Police Station In Istanbul
The woman entered a police station and reported a missing wallet before detonating a bomb, Istanbul governor Vasip Sahin said.
The attack happened in the Sultan Ahmet district, a popular tourist destination.
Police sealed off the street across the square from the Aya Sofya museum and Blue Mosque and near the Basilica Cistern.
Mr Sahin said police are still trying to identify the woman who died in the attack.
He said: “She spoke in English, entered[the police station on the pretext that she had lost her wallet.”
Authorities identified the suicide bomber who blew herself up in the heart of Istanbul’s historic Sultanahmet district, killing one police officer injuring another on Tuesday.
A statement from the governor’s office stated, Elif Sultan Kalsen, was a member of far-leftist Revolutionary People’s Liberation Party-Front, or DHKP-C and had participated another bomb attack on a police station in Istanbul s Sultangazi district, in which another police officer died
