IPhone 12, which will be released in 2020, will be Similar to the Iconic iPhone 4

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said that the conditional iPhone 12, which will be released in 2020, will be similar to the iconic iPhone 4, is still widely perceived as the most beautiful “apple” smartphone. It is possible that after numerous negative reviews about the design of the latest line of iPhones, Apple intends to return to the roots and try to make users feel nostalgic for the times when Steve Jobs was still alive.
Next year, Apple will introduce an updated iPhone design, which will get a metal frame around the edges, like the iconic iPhone 4 gadget, MacRumors reports citing analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, known for his accurate predictions about the American company.

Min-Chi Kuo claims that the iPhone 12, whose exact name is still unknown, will undergo “significant changes” in terms of its appearance. These changes will include a “more sophisticated segmented design” using sapphire crystal to help maintain the design. In addition, Apple will use the “new metal casting technology.”

“We predict that the design of the iPhone 2020 will change significantly … The metal frame, as well as the front and rear 2 2.5D glass, will remain in place, but the surface of the metal frame will be similar to the design used in the iPhone 4,” the analytical report.

Min-Chi Kuo is confident that the updated iPhone will look and feel completely different in the hand, but new production technologies will require significant costs – the analyst believes that the company’s costs for a metal frame and glass case will increase by 50-60% and 40 -50% respectively.

At the same time, it is possible that the price of the device for the consumer will also increase.

iPhone 4 is largely considered a cult, since its design, created by the legendary Jonathan Ive, was subsequently used by many other smartphone manufacturers – it is a metal frame with rounded edges that surrounds glass on both sides. In addition, the iPhone 4, along with the “five”, is considered one of the most beautiful iPhones in the history of Apple.

The release of this gadget took place in 2010, and since then the design of the iPhone has undergone a number of significant changes. In particular, a triple camera on a convex square platform located in the left corner of the case appeared in the iPhone 11 line, which caused a lot of criticism.

Many users said that Apple co-founder Steve Jobs would never have allowed such “ugliness”, and the departure of chief designer Jonathan Quince in the summer of 2019 negatively affected the company’s products.

Sales of the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max started in Russia on September 20. It is noted that every year interest in new iPhones in Moscow falls – just look at the line in front of the official store on Tverskaya, which is becoming smaller and smaller. If last year the number of those who were ready to stand in the cold for two days to become the first owner of a fashionable gadget was about a hundred, then in 2019 only a couple dozen people came.

The new design, reminiscent of the gadget, created “back when Jobs,” should be the main key to the success of sales of the iPhone 12, the report said. Min-Chi Kuo believes that in 2020 Apple will be able to increase the supply of its smartphones to 85 million units compared to 75 million units in 2019.

Earlier, Min-Chi Kuo reported that all three iPhone models, which will be released next year, will receive 5G support. Initially, the analyst claimed that only two iPhones of the 2020 model will have a fifth-generation connection, and the third, budget option, will be content with 4G. However, given the recent acquisition of Intel’s modem business, Apple will have additional resources to equip 5G with all of its future gadgets, the expert said.

In addition, the addition of a fifth-generation connection to all iPhones will help the apple compete more successfully with cheaper Android smartphones, which will also receive 5G support.

It is also expected that Qualcomm modem chips will be installed in iPhones in 2020, as Apple will not have time to set up production of its own microcircuits. According to rumors, Apple’s own chips will not be ready until 2021.

Min-Chi Kuo also predicted the emergence of new sizes for the 2020 lineup. He said that in a year the size of the flagship would not be 5.8 inches, but 5.4 inches. Thus, the iPhone from the new line will decrease relative to its predecessors – the iPhone X, iPhone XS and iPhone 11 Pro have a 5.8-inch screen. At the same time, the “elder brother” of the flagship will become even larger relative to the iPhone XS Max and iPhone 11 Pro Max – 6.7 inches instead of 6.5 inches.

In addition, the third 6.1-inch model is expected, which will be the successor to the iPhone XR and iPhone 11.
