Electrification ensures zero-emission driving, like an electric one, for 50 kilometers thanks to the 11.4 kWh battery (less than two hours recharging from the Wallbox with 7.4 kW charger), to power an installed traction motor generator at the rear, with 60 horsepower and 250 Nm, in addition to a front axle with a 1.3 liter turbo petrol engine with 130 or 180 horsepower, both with 270 Nm of torque.

The combination creates a system of 190 and 240 horsepower respectively, differentiated power levels for set-ups: Limited for the former (besides Compass Business), S and Trailhawk for the latter. From the Melfi plant, “real” Jeeps will come out, with off-road skills even higher than the proposals with a thermal engine and classic transmission shaft. The electrified rear axle layout does without the transmission shaft and can offer significantly higher speed of torque delivery, as well as boasting a + 50% newton meter compared, for example, to the Renegade and Compass Trailhawk diesel 170 horsepower.

It is the most voted off-road setup, on Compass 4xe it allows a ford depth of 50 cm, where Renegade 4xe ensures 40. Other peculiarities mark the off-road skills, such as the Selec Terrain to adjust the 4×4 in 4WD mode Lock for speeds up to 15 km / h, 4WD Low and Hill Descent Control.

For those who wondered what happens in case of low battery, the answer is in the Powerloops function and in the generator mechanically connected to the front heat engine: it acts as a charger for the battery (in addition to supporting the heat engine if necessary), so as to power the motogenerator rear.

RUNNING CHARGE, ACTIVE E-SAVE AND REGENERATIVE BRAKING
Front unit that also comes into action at another juncture, of E-Save, mode with which to preserve or increase the charge of the 11.4 kWh battery. In passive mode, Jeep Renegade plug-in hybrid and Jeep Compass plug-in hybrid use only the turbo petrol engine, in E-Save active the front generator increases the charge level. Regenerative braking also helps to recover energy, with a higher intensity level, which can be activated by the eCoasting button.
