Porsche Partners with Boeing to Develop an Electric Flying Car

Porsche develops a prototype electric flying car with Boeing. The German brand also wants to grow as a manufacturer that thinks about mobility in cities.

Flying cars are still far from becoming a reality: due to technological development, since the different proposals are still under development, and due to logistical and legal issues. Even so, this very specific market promises to grow in the next decade: there are already bets that will be from 2025 when they take off (never better).

This bet is from Porsche, which is already thinking about its part of the cake … and for which it has reached a collaboration agreement with Boeing, the American company focused on the manufacture, design and sale of aircraft (among other things), and Aurora Flight Sciences (subsidiary of Boeing). It is not the first car brand that makes a collaboration agreement with an aeronautical giant: Audi and Airbus already work together.

The objective of Porsche and Boeing is to develop, initially, a prototype of a flying electric vehicle, of course, “premium”, which will allow them to “explore the premium urban air mobility market and the extension of traffic in the cities to the sky”. The German brand, which in this 2019 has presented its first one hundred percent electric street car, the Porsche Taycan, already thinks about exceeding its own limits and literally flying.
