According to STC Optics, there are certain benefits to placing filters behind the lens, including reducing exposure and keeping the filter clean. At the same time, it remains possible to attach other accessories or filters to the front of the lens, there is no need to rearrange the filter when changing the lens or to have a filter for each lens, to purchase a filter of a new size or adapter ring if, when buying a new lens, it turns out that it is designed for filters of a different diameter . In addition, it is claimed that having a filter behind the lens provides additional protection for the surface of the sensor.

Filters for Canon EOS R mirrorless cameras are already available for $ 90.
