New Record in Foreign Trade Deficit: 51.5 Percent Increased

According to the data of TURKSTAT (Turkish Statistical Institute) in February 2023, exports decreased by 6.4 percent compared to the same month of the previous year and amounted to 18 billion 635 million dollars, while imports increased by 10.1 percent to 30 billion 714 million dollars. In February, the foreign trade deficit increased by 51.4% compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching a record level.
The Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) published the foreign trade statistics for February. According to the data, the foreign trade deficit was $12.07 billion in February. As of the first two months of the year, the foreign trade deficit exceeded $26 billion.

According to the temporary data of the Ministry of Commerce, the foreign trade deficit was announced as 12.2 billion dollars in February. In January, the foreign trade deficit was announced as 14.24 billion dollars.
