Hellofresh Exceeds Expectations And Increases the Forecast

The cooking box supplier Hellofresh is swimming on a wave of success in the Corona period. In the second quarter, the company increased its sales by 123 percent to 972.1 million euros. It is thus at the upper end of its own forecast, which Hellofresh last raised again in mid-July.

The Group’s adjusted operating profit (Ebitda) also reached a new high of 153.6 million euros in the second quarter of 2020. In the same quarter of the previous year it was only 18.3 million euros. Hellofresh thus also exceeds the average estimates of analysts.

“Our growth in the last few months has been extraordinary,” says Hellofresh boss Dominik Richter. It is still unclear whether the strong demand will continue after the Corona period, when people can go to restaurants again without hesitation and the heavy use of the home office will decline again.

But Richter is optimistic that the development at Hellofresh will be sustainable. “We see clear signs that customers have started to develop new habits,” he observes. The trust of the customers is reflected in the high number of recurring orders and in the average order volume, which has never been higher.
